Synergy Innovate launches a new program for medical entrepreneurship

Synergy Innovate Initiative for Nurturing Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Pioneers Cross-Disciplinary Medical Entrepreneurship Program!

Synergy Innovate, a pioneering initiative at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University, focuses on nurturing medical innovation and entrepreneurship among students of all faculties. By creating a collaborative ecosystem that brings together diverse disciplines, Synergy Innovate aims to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world healthcare solutions.

Last week, Synergy Innovate successfully concluded its pioneering nine-week Medical Entrepreneurship Program, fostering the next generation of healthcare innovators. Led by medical students Amit Manor, Orr Erlich, Tom Zuckerman and Yael Lieber, the program brought together 40 students from diverse academic backgrounds, including medicine, engineering, computer science, life science and more. This unique interdisciplinary approach bridges traditional gaps between fields, accelerating medical innovation.

Throughout the program, students were encouraged to create their own medical innovation projects, focusing on gaining practical skills to help them become future entrepreneurs. The program ended with an exciting pitch night, where students from various fields worked together to present their ideas to a panel of judges from the health-tech industry. This event highlighted the creativity and teamwork of the students, inspiring everyone for their future careers in medical innovation.

Participants gained comprehensive knowledge in:

- Global and local medical innovation landscapes

- Key technological concepts in healthcare

- Startup development fundamentals

- Need identification and solution design

- Market research and analysis

- Storytelling and pitching

The program's success was enhanced by collaborations with industry leaders and hospitals, which provided valuable real-world insights.

Prof. Karen Avraham, Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, commented: “We’re incredibly proud of our medical students, who are the major force behind Synergy Innovate and initiated and led the highly successful Medical Entrepreneurship Program. We need to ensure that our next generation of MDs have the knowledge to transfer their medical skills to innovative discoveries.”

As these projects move forward, they hold the promise of making substantial contributions to the healthcare sector, showcasing the Faculty of Medical and Health Science's role in nurturing the next generation of medical innovators.
