Dr. Merav Cohen is a faculty member in the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology, the Faculty of Medicine, and is joining the Edmond J. Safra Center as an Affiliate.
Dr. Cohen holds an M.Sc. in biotechnology engineering from Ben-Gurion University, and a Ph.D. in Neuro-Immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science. She did a postdoc at the Weizmann Institute on ImmunoGenomics, and a second postdoc at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NYC on Tumor-Immunology. She joined Tel Aviv University in 2020.
Dr. Cohen is the head of the Systems Immunology & ImmunoGenomics Laboratory, which specializes in Developmental-immunology and Cancer-Immunology. Her lab focuses on dissecting the intercellular communication between immune cells and tissue-resident cells in the tumor microenvironment and along the process of tissue development, by incorporating state of the art single-cell RNA-sequencing technologies, murine models, clinical approaches and advanced computational methods. The lab aims to assess similarities and discrepancies in interactome molecular signatures between tissue development processes and cancerous conditions, in order to identify novel immunotherapy targets, directed against intercellular crosstalk
