Prof Shai Izraeli awarded ICRF Research Professorship grant

The Board of Trustees of the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) has awarded Prof. Shai Izraeli with a Research Professorship grant, in recognition of his extraordinary research accomplishments.
Prof. Izraeli is the Director of the Director of the Rina Zaizov Pediatric Hematology Oncology Division at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, and a Full Professor in pediatrics, hematology, oncology and genetics at Tel Aviv University.
He holds the Dora and Gregorio Shapiro Chair of Hematological Malignancies.
His main research interest is on the molecular biology of childhood leukemia- Basic and Translational and Research of Childhood Malignancies and Leukemia. He focuses on patient-driven basic research into the pathogenesis of childhood leukemia and cancer and harnesses advanced molecular and cellular biology technologies utilizing in-vitro and in-vivo models with the ultimate goal of improving the care of children with cancer.
Research is divided into three major topics:
- Basic, translational and clinical research of leukemia.
- The role of SIL (STIL) protein in mitosis, centrosomal biology and cancer.
- Cancer predisposition syndromes
