Prof. Cohen-Mansfield Earns GSA’s 2024 Robert W. Kleemeier Award

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) has awarded the 2024 Robert W. Kleemeier Award to Jiska Cohen-Mansfield, PhD, FGSA, of Tel Aviv University, recognizing her outstanding research in gerontology. The award, established in 1965 to honor Robert W. Kleemeier, will be presented at GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting in Seattle from November 13 to 16.

Cohen-Mansfield is a professor and founder of Tel Aviv University's Department of Health Promotion and co-director of the Minerva Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the End of Life.

Her extensive work includes over 350 peer-reviewed papers, 45 book chapters, and 17 psychological assessments, significantly impacting person-centered care and non-pharmacological interventions in long-term care. She developed tools like the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory and has influenced restraint reduction and interventions for loneliness and quality of life.

A GSA fellow and recipient of numerous awards, Cohen-Mansfield's educational background includes degrees from Hebrew University and State University of New York at Stony Brook, and an MBA from The George Washington University.
