Prof. Jason Friedman

Dr Friedman studies human movement in typical and clinical populations. He builds models to help understand how the brain controls movement and how this knowledge can be used to enhance rehabilitation. He began studying Computer Science, and during his M.Sc and Ph.D at the Weizmann Institute of Science, he became interested in the field of human motor control, when his research included studying arm movements and grasping. Following this, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Biomechanics and Motor Control labs at Penn State University, PA, USA, where he researched force coordination of the arm and fingers. This was followed by a postdoctoral position in the Department of Cognitive Science, at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, where he developed models for observing decision making through arm movements. He is now continuing his research in human motor control, focusing on kinematics and force production in healthy grasping and in disorders of hand function as an associate professor in the Physical Therapy department at Tel Aviv University. His research is performed in collaboration with doctors and other researchers.
