Application for $20,000 seed grant

The Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at TAU aims to promote excellence in clinical bioinformatics research by bringing together bioinformatics scientists and clinicians. This year the Center, partnering with the Sackler School of Medicine, will provide two seed money research grants for the amount of up to 20,000 USD each, supporting fundamental and translational collaborative research combining novel computational techniques and clinical applications.

 

Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria:

 

 The proposed project should represent an interactive collaboration between an Edmond J. Safra Center member or affiliate and a hospital-based MD with academic appointment at the Sackler School of Medicine. The list of members and affiliates is available on the Center’s website.

 Proposals that represent new collaborations will be preferred.

 Only one application per PI can be submitted.

 At least half the budget should go to the Safra Center PI.

 Please note that by TAU rules, retired professors are not eligible to apply.

 

Format and Scope:

 

Cover page - Proposal title, PIs names and titles, affiliations, and keywords.

Research Plan (2 page limit, Times New Roman font 11) including the following information:

- Scientific Background (with an emphasis of the medical question)

- Research Aims

- Methodology

- Specific Roles of the two PIs (including a description of how each PI contributes to the research goal)

- Collaboration Strategy -

Budget (including information on how the budget will be divided among the two PIs and budget justification)

CV of each participant - NIH Biosketch or TAU CV format (3 page limit)

Proposals will be managed by a grant committee and evaluated by both TAU and outside reviewers. Award funds are to be used between April 2021 and September 2022. A report summarizing the project results will be required.
