In memory of Prof. Micha Rapoport - November 2022

Prof. Micha Rapoport began his medical studies in Rome, and later completed them at Tel Aviv University. He performed an internship in internal medicine at the Shamir (Assaf Harofeh) Medical Center, and decided to link his professional and personal future in this hospital, where he held clinical, academic and administrative positions until his passing.

Prof. Rapoport was the director of Internal Medicine Department C for over two decades, and also served in the past as the chairman of the internal division at the hospital. He coordinated the research forum at the hospital and thus helped to promote and develop research at the entire hospital. He also served as the chairman of the Israel Diabetes Association together with Prof. Itamar Raz.

Prof. Rapoport was a researcher in the field of internal medicine, diabetes and immunology, and was a Full Professor at the School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, where he previously served as the head of the school's clinical studies and the head of the six-year track for medical studies. He most recently served as head of the Admissions Committee.

Prof. Rapoport educated and trained dozens of internists in Israel, who today hold key positions in medicine all over the country. With his passing, he has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, patients, colleagues and students at the Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital and Tel Aviv University.
