Dr. Orna Steinberg-Shemer is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel and the head of the Pediatric Hematology Research Laboratory at the Felsenstein Medical Research Center, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University. Holding a combined MD-MSc degree from the Hadassah Medical School, the Hebrew University, she completed her pediatric residency and pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center. Her academic journey continued with a post-doctoral fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Steinberg-Shemer is an expert in pediatric non-malignant hematology, specializing in bone marrow failure and leukemia predisposition syndromes. Her research focus is on congenital anemia and neutropenia syndromes, exploring malignant transformation processes associated with these disorders.

Motivated by a deep conviction in the synergy between clinical care and basic science research, Dr. Steinberg-Shemer is dedicated to bridging the gap between medical practice and the laboratory. Her ultimate goal is to translate clinical questions into innovative research and, in turn, apply the gained insights to enhance patient care.
