Congratulations to Prof. Gilad Twig on his appointment to the Hella Gertner Chair for Research in Hypertension.

Prof. Gilad Twig, MD, PhD, is a full Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine in the School of Public Health at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. He serves as the Director of the Population Health Research Center at the Gertner Institute for Epidemiology and Health Policy Research. He graduated from the MD-PhD program at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and received a Master of Public Health at the School of Public Health at Tel Aviv University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Sheba Medical Center and serves as a physician at the Institute of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism. He studies cardiometabolic health among young adults using multiple nationwide databases, with a special focus on obesity, hypertension and glucose metabolism. He serves as the leading author of more than 80 original research papers that were published in prestigious journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet Diabetes Endocrinology and JAMA.
