Prof. Dan Farine, MD, joins the School of Medicine at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Department of Ob/Gyn, as an affiliated faculty member!

 

Prof. Dan Farine, MD, is a new affiliated faculty member to the School of Medicine at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Department of Ob/Gyn, at Tel Aviv University. Prof. Farine is a Professor of Ob/Gyn at the University of Toronto (U of T). He is cross appointed to the Departments of Medicine and Public Health. His medical degree is from TAU. His residency in Ob/Gyn in Toronto was followed by a fellowship in Maternal/Fetal Medicine at Columbia University, New York. He is currently based at Mt. Sinai Toronto, where he is a Staff Perinatologist at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Division of Maternal/Fetal Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto.

 

Prof. Farine’s research is clinical in nature. Over the years he has worked on gestational diabetes, ruptured membranes at term, fetal movements in pregnancy, and obesity in pregnancy. His diagnostic criterion for low-lying placenta is still in effect today. Most recently, his research has covered uterine rupture, late preterm labour, fetal movements and COVID-19 during pregnancy. He has published more than 200 peer reviewed papers. He is an editor or co-editor of 7 obstetrics textbooks and authored 22 book chapters. He has received many awards for either his research or his teaching.
