Dr Melanie Samuel, Visiting Professor, teaches us about “Active Learning”

Dr Melanie Samuel was a Visiting Professor as part of President Porat’s initiative to bring over international faculty to teach our graduate students. An expert in neuroscience, Dr Samuel provided our faculty members with a detailed account of how this form of teaching enhances the students’ experience in learning. Spending a month at TAU, Dr Samuel taught “Developmental Neurobiology” to MSc and PhD students at the School of Medicine Graduate School and the Sagol School of Neuroscience. She also delivered a talk on her research entitled: How to build a synapse: molecules that instruct neuron form and function, as part of the Biomed@TAU Disorders of the Mind and Brain Research Hub. Dr Samuel graduated with a PhD from the Washington University School of Medicine and performed her post-doctoral training at Harvard University, before joining the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine.
