Our researchers exploring high-potential projects for attacking the Coronavirus

Dr. Natalia Freund, Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology, Sackler Faculty of Medicine — Dr. Freund is doing research which will focus on isolating neutralizing antibodies directly from survivors of the COVID-19 outbreak. Her premise is that the antibodies developed by these survivors — which are what enabled them to overcome the virus — could be used as a vaccine or front-line therapeutics for treatment of COVID-19 infected individuals. 

 

Dr. Ella Sklan, Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology, Sackler Faculty of Medicine — Dr. Sklan addresses the COVID-19 using two main strategies, preventing viral entry into the host cell and developing a better understanding of viral-host interaction in order to identify new targets for the development of novel antiviral
