Eugenia Gelman Estate for Cancer Research- Scholarships for outstanding PhD graduate students

The Dean’s Council and the School of Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Medicine are pleased to announce a call for PhD Scholarships, made available through a generous donation provided to the School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University by the Eugenia Gelman Estate for Cancer Research. The call will provide 50% scholarships (total 200% from all sources) to outstanding new students undertaking research in fields related to mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer.

 

Eligibility

  • New PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine, starting their PhD at Tel Aviv University in the fall semester 2023
  • PhD students with a BSc and MSc minimum average of 90 and a thesis grade of 90 or above, or MD-PhD students with a BMedSc minimum average grade of 90.
  • Endorsement and recommendation by the PhD advisor required as well as letter of recommendation from the MSc advisor.
  • The student must receive 150% from other sources; this scholarship is in addition to the monthly stipend.
  • The student must dedicate maximum time and energy to their studies and research.

 

Note: Only one applicant from each lab will be considered.

 

Application process

  • Candidates who meet the criteria above are requested to download the application form, fill it out and have it signed by their advisor. The request should include the advisor's approval and their commitment to funding as stated above.
  • All documents (except letters of recommendation) should be submitted in one PDF through the website.
  • Letters of recommendation should be sent by the advisor directly to kersha@tauex.tau.ac.il (letters submitted by students will not be accepted).

Rules and Regulations

 

  • The scholarships will be considered after the Faculty of Medicine’s Ph.D. Admissions Committee and Scholarship Committee decisions are announced.
  • Scholarships are awarded for the period October 2023 - September 2024 (or from start date through September 2024).
  • The conditions for receiving scholarships are set annually in accordance with the policies of the Tel Aviv University and do not constitute a precedent or basis for future scholarships.
