Prof. Anat Loewenstein named on The Ophthalmologist's top 100 power list
Prof. Loewenstein is chair of TAU's Department of Ophthalmology and Vice Dean of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine
The Ophthalmologist recently published its Power List 2016, a listing of the 100 most influential people worldwide in the field of ophthalmology.
Included in the prestigious ranking is TAU's own Prof. Anat Loewenstein, chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Vice Dean of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine. She is an expert in retinal toxicity whose research has focused on the early detection of retinal disease. Previously she served four years as a Medical Officer with the Israel Defense Forces, later completing her medical studies at Hebrew University in Jerusaelm and her fellowship in retinal vascular diseases and vitreoretinal surgery at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in the U.S. She led the development of novel technology for early detection of age-related macular degeneration. Professor Loewenstein has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and she serves on many editorial boards. She has furthered her status as a popular speaker at many international conventions and co-chairs the Controversies in Ophthalmology Congress.
Professor Loewenstein is a board member of the Euretina and of the American Society of Retina Specialist, and represents Israel on the European Societies of Ophthalmology board.
The contributions of Prof. Loewenstein to the field of medical and surgical retina cannot be underestimated.
