Research Grants awarded for publishing in highest impact journals

Recently, TAU's Sackler Facutly of Medicine awarded grants to eight researchers for publishing in the highest impact journals. These grants also signify overall highest impact in their specialized research area.
Awardees include:
- Prof. Ariel Munitz, Ph.D. from the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology, whose research investigates regulatory mechanisms in mucosal inflammation
- Dr. Debbie Rand, Ph.D., O.T.from the Department of Occupational Therapy who researches gaming as a means of rehabilitation of neurological and geriatric populations
- Dr. Carmit Levy, Ph.D. from the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, whose lab studies microRNA and DICER in differentiation and malignant transformation of melanocytes
- Dr. Yechiel Elkabetz, Ph.D. from the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology who uses human embryonic stem cells in order to elucidate developmental programs in the human nervous system, with particular interest in neural stem cells (NSCs)
- Prof. Illana Gozes, Ph.D. from the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemisty who studies neuronal plasticity and nerve cell protection in disease
- Dr. Inna Slutsky, Ph.D. from the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, whose lab is focused on understanding the basic mechanisms underlying synaptic function and primary mechanisms initiating synaptic dysfunction at very early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease
- Prof. Israel Hershkovitz, Ph.D. from the Department of Anatomy and Anthropology and his research in evolutionary medicine, paleopathology and bio-history
- Prof. Udi Qimron, Ph.D. from the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology who studies host-virus interactions in bacterial systems
