Prof. Ron David:
How is unfolded stress protein recognized in the endoplasmic reticulum?

Prof. Ron David is Professor of Cellular Pathophysiology and Clinical Biochemistry at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, University of Cambridge.
His research investigates how cells of complex organisms cope with the effects of misfolded proteins, which represent wasted effort for the cells and may lead to proteotoxicity—damage that builds up over time and harms cells during extended periods of stress. Prof. David aims to understand both the cellular mechanisms and clinical impact of this process, particularly in diseases such as neurodegeneration, Parkinson’s disease, and type 2 diabetes.
