Synergy Innovate Initiative
While the practice of medicine has improved dramatically over the last decades, there remain huge clinical challenges that are not even close to resolution. This is particularly the case with degenerative diseases of internal organs – liver, heart, lung, kidney – that can lead to organ scarring and failure; debilitating neurodegenerative diseases with ever growing numbers of sufferers; and solid tumors for which new immunotherapy is only marginally effective.
To make an impact in these burning fields, the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University has established the Synergy Innovate Initiative. The Initiative run activities aimed at equipping medical students and medical sciences graduate students with the skills and insights they need to develop and market their biomedical breakthroughs into practical applications.
The Initiative’s ultimate goal will be to train a new generation of biomedical experts who possess both the scientific insights and the entrepreneurial skills necessary to develop and market their biomedical breakthroughs into practical applications, launch their own startups and thereby contribute to bolstering Israel’s national economy.
