Call for CBRC 3 rd Graduate Student Awards

The Cancer Biology Research Center (CBRC) is pleased to announce the 3 rd Zvi and Esther Weinstat Graduate Student Awards for outstanding research achievements in the field of cancer.


The call for proposals is directed to all graduate students who work on cancer-related projects at Tel Aviv University and the affiliated medical centers. Four students will be selected for a 5,000 NIS award each for outstanding research projects. The projects will be selected by four CBRC committee members and the Chair, Prof. Ronit Satchi Fainaro. The awardees would present their work at a special event which will be held on September 1 2021 according to the MOH guidelines at the time.


CBRC is a joint activity framework of the Faculty of Life Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine to advance Cancer research at Tel Aviv University. At present, CBRC comprises more than 80 research laboratories that operate at Tel Aviv University campus and at the affiliated medical centers. CBRC aims to support innovative research projects, encourage young researchers and increase cooperation among the various research teams. For more information, please check the CBRC website


How to apply

Applicants should send a PDF file consisting of:

Three-page proposal (English, font: Arial 11/Times New Roman 12, line spacing: 1.5) including:

 Project Title (only one line, up to 100 characters, not including spaces) on page 1.

 Principal Investigator (head of the laboratory - name, academic position and affiliation).

 Abstract (not exceeding 300 words).

 Scientific Background - including the need, and hypothesis.

 Project preliminary results.

 References, up to 10

In separate pages (of the same PDF file ) please add:

 A short CV (NIH style).

 Reference letter from the PI of the graduate student.



Applications can be submitted only by Tel Aviv University graduate students (M.Sc., PhD or MD-PhD.), whose research project is directly related to cancer and will not complete their studies till December 2021. Deadline for proposal submission: 6/08/2021 Noon. Proposals should be submitted electronically to: Judith Ben-Porath 03-6407322 with subject line indicating: Weinstat Graduate Students Award. Proposals not written in accordance with the requested format will not be considered. Upon submission, an electronic confirmation of receipt will be sent by Dr. Ben-Porath.
