What students can expect...
International students participating in medical electives through the Gray School of Medicine can expect strong, learning experiences in leading academic tertiary and quaternary referral centers.
You will interact with patients who have both common diseases and rare, highly complex conditions. The program focuses on building strong clinical reasoning skills through bedside discussions, differential diagnoses, interpreting laboratory and imaging findings, and making evidence-based decisions with expert clinicians and physician-scientists.
You will also learn in a multidisciplinary environment where specialists collaborate closely to provide personalized care, including exposure to advanced technologies, precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, and innovative treatments, as well as the important roles of supporting specialties such as pathology, radiology, nuclear medicine, genetics, laboratory medicine, pharmacy, and other allied health professions.
The experience also aims to help you grow professionally by strengthening communication, empathy, professionalism, and ethical decision-making while caring for patients from diverse cultural, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a unique global health setting.
