M.D./Ph.D. Program
Eligibility
Outstanding students who have already completed their coursework in preclinical medicine or dentistry at Tel Aviv University are eligible to apply if:
- They have maintained a final minimum grade of 90 in all of their courses.
- They have completed no more than five years of medical studies in the six-year program or three years of the 4-year program.
- In special cases, students may be approved with minimum grades of 85. In such cases, the student will be interviewed by the M.D./Ph.D. committee to determine his suitability for the program.
Students from other universities who wish to apply must be accepted both to the medical school at Tel Aviv University and the M.D./Ph.D. program. Please note that priority will be given to candidates with previous experience in a research laboratory, such as participation in the Student Summer program at the Faculty of Medicine.
Registration
Students interested in pursuing an M.D./Ph.D. should contact the program coordinator, Prof. Dan Grisaru, at grisaro@tauex.tau.ac.il to check their eligibility. Students who meet the requirements for initial acceptance will need to apply with the M.D./Ph.D. Committee.
Documents to be submitted to the Secretariat:
- Transcript with detailed grades for the students, including the weighted average of grades from their graduate medical or dental coursework
- Letter from an advisor or mentor that expresses willingness to guide the candidate in the specified research area
- A 1-2 page summary that describes the candidate's proposed research area
- CV and list of publications (if any)
- At least 2 letters of recommendation
- A picture of the candidate
