Master of Science in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (M.Sc.)

 

The Master of Science program in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine entails a research-intensive curriculum leading to an accredited degree. The program mandates the completion of research activities culminating in a final thesis.


Curriculum Overview:

Compulsory Courses: Spanning semesters, students are required to undertake 15 credits worth of core program courses.

Advanced Elective Courses: Comprising 9 credits, with a minimum of 4 credits derived from elective courses offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.

For students who commenced their studies before program completion, elective courses totaling 13 credits are required.

Additionally, students are obligated to partake in a minimum of 26 seminar sessions, inclusive of either an interdepartmental seminar or departmental seminars offered by the School of Public Health.

Research Component:

Students are engaged in research activities pertinent to epidemiology, preventive medicine, and public health. The primary objective of this research endeavor is to foster independent critical thinking and proficient reporting of findings, with the research duration typically spanning one year.

Each student is assigned a mentor, holding a position of lecturer or higher, to guide them throughout the research year.


Thesis Proposal and Completion:

By the third semester of enrollment, students are mandated to submit a research proposal for their thesis to the school's thesis committee.

Completion of the thesis, examination thereof, and fulfillment of all degree requirements must be accomplished within a maximum duration of 3 years.
