Surgery
The Department of Surgery at the School of Medicine is affiliated with nearly 180 physicians at our partner hospitals. These hospitals include Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, Sheba Medical Center, Meir Medical Center, Rabin Medical Center, Schneider Children's Medical Center, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov). Wolfson Medical Center, and others. These physicians mentor our students in the following areas:
- general surgery
- children's surgery
- neurosurgery
- cardiothoracic surgery
- plastic surgery
- urology
In the Hebrew program, students take introductory courses in their fourth and fifth years. During their sixth year, they do a clerkship at an affiliated hospital department. Students in the English program complete the clerkship in their third year. Students learn the specialty through departmental activities, lectures, and observations in the emergency and operating rooms.
The Department also offers a continuing education program in general surgery and urology. We host forums to discuss unique clinical cases and bring together physicians and residents from our affiliated medical centers.
