Master's Degree Requirements - Graduate Studies
"Faculty Website" – The official website of the Faculty of Medicine, available at: med.tau.ac.il.
"Graduate School Website" – The website of the Graduate School for Master’s and Doctoral Studies in Medical Sciences, available at: med.tau.ac.il/Midrasha-Graduate.
Definitions
"University" – Tel Aviv University.
"Notification to the Student" – As defined later in this chapter.
"The Graduate School" – The Graduate School for Advanced Degrees within the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University.
"Student Appeals Committee" – As defined on the Graduate School website.
"Teaching Committee" – As defined on the Graduate School website.
"Student Committee" – As defined on the Graduate School website.
"Student" – A student enrolled in a master’s degree program at the Graduate School.
"Faculty" – The Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University.
Regulations
- The regulations determine the structure of studies for a master’s degree at the Graduate School and the academic framework.
- The regulations are established by the Graduate School administration, which has the authority to amend them or establish transitional provisions for various sections. Changes to the regulations may also apply to students who have already commenced their studies.
- The regulations apply to all students pursuing a master’s degree at the Graduate School.
- The regulations are written in masculine language but apply to all genders.
- In any case of gaps in the regulations, the relevant rules and procedures of the University shall apply, with necessary adjustments.
Notification to the Student
- Notifications to students will be published on the Faculty website, the Graduate School website, via the student’s university email, through an electronic interface such as the Moodle platform, or during lectures and academic activities.
- The schedule for each academic cohort will be published on the Graduate School website.
- It is the student's responsibility to regularly follow these notifications and publications.
Duration of Studies
- A student must complete all requirements for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Medical Sciences within two years.
- The Student Committee is authorized to approve an extension of studies for a period not exceeding one additional year due to exceptional and special circumstances. For approval, the student must submit a written and reasoned request, including a detailed letter of support from the supervisor, with an estimated timeline for completion of studies. Any academic extension is subject to the University’s tuition regulations.

Mandatory Participation in an English Course:
Master’s degree students are required to participate in at least one course conducted in English during their studies in Medical Sciences.
Vaccination Requirement:
During the course of their studies, students are exposed to various risk factors. Therefore, in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines, students are required to be vaccinated. Vaccinations are a prerequisite for commencing activities in clinical laboratories and hospitals. The list of required vaccinations and further instructions are detailed on the Graduate School’s website.
Safety:
Students must adhere to the "Safety at the University" directive (Directive No. 07-302). They are required to read the explanatory booklet published by the Faculty and follow its guidelines.
Obtaining a Study Certificate:
Students may request certifications regarding their academic status (degree eligibility, grade transcripts, etc.) as customary at the Graduate School and in accordance with University regulations (including tuition clearance and payment of the stipulated fee for certificate issuance). Requests must be submitted in writing and will be processed within 10 days.
Certificates of Excellence:
The Dean’s Certificate of Excellence is awarded to students with the highest achievements in the past academic year. This certificate is granted to up to 5% of students in each program and cohort, provided they achieve a weighted average grade of at least 90.0. Students who have been convicted by a disciplinary committee are ineligible for the Dean’s Certificate of Excellence.
Student Committee:
- Any request for deviation from these regulations requires the approval of the Student Committee.
- The decision of the Student Committee is final and cannot be appealed. However, an appeal against the decision of the Student Committee is permitted only if the decision contradicts University regulations, provided that the appeal is submitted within two weeks of the publication of the committee’s decision.
Disciplinary Proceedings:
- The Faculty Disciplinary Committee is authorized to address cases involving students as part of disciplinary proceedings, in accordance with University Directive No. 12-003.
- The Faculty Disciplinary Committee is empowered to discuss, convict, and sanction violations during lectures (including exercises and laboratory sessions), behavior unbecoming of a university student, offenses concerning University property, and violations committed during University examinations.
