This versatile model is compatible with a wide range of superior rotors and tubes. Instrument classification is R (uses all Beckman Coulter preparative rotors except Types 35 and 42.1 rotors with serial numbers 1299 or lower); not equipped for zonal or continuous-flow operation.

Applications:
- Separation of proteins by ammonium sulfate precipitation and sucrose/glycerol gradients

- Fractionation of lipoproteins by differential floatation and density gradients
- Isolation of subcellular fractions (microsomes, mitochondria, nuclei, membranes, ribosomes) by pelleting
- Isolation of subcellular fractions (chromatin, mitochondria, ribosomes, microsomes, membranes) by sucrose gradients
- DNA size fractionation in gradients and plasmid purification in CsCl
- Pelleting in CsCl and CsTFA density gradients of RNA
- Isolation of viruses by pelleting and density gradients
Available rotors
Published procedures involving a centrifugation step usually cite the required speed in g-units (i.e. RCF or Relative Centrifugal Force). The centrifuge speed however, is set in rpm (Revolutions Per Minute).
