Hematology
Hematology is a discipline within Internal Medicine that focuses on the study of blood and bone marrow in health and disease. The field includes study of hemoglobinopathy, anemia, hemostasis disorders and hemorrhaging, marrow bone transplant, and cancer-related hematology.
In 2004, TAU established the The Amalia Biron Institute of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center. The research staff at the Institute works in collaboration with the personnel of the National Hemophilia Center and Coagulation Clinic and the Clinical Coagulation Laboratory, which are both located on the ground floor of the Institute. The main research groups at the Institute study molecular-genetic, biochemical, and pathophysiologic aspects of platelet and blood coagulation disorders. Annually, the researchers publish 5 – 10 papers in leading scientific journals. They have presented their work at several international conferences.
