Healthy Longevity Research Center at Tel Aviv University and Longevity Clinical and Research Center at the Sheba Medical Center Call for Grant Proposals 2022
The Tel Aviv University (TAU) Healthy Longevity Research Center and the Sheba Medical Center (SMC) Healthy Longevity Clinical Center brings together excellence in basic and clinical research to promoting health and medical care among older adults.
Grants will be awarded to collaborations between researchers and clinicians at TAU and the SMC.
In the past century, human life expectancy increased nearly 2-fold. By 2050 people aged 65 years or older will represent nearly 20% of the world’s population. This gain in life expectancy and the demographic shift is an unparalleled human achievement that presents both extraordinary challenges and opportunities.
Healthspan expansion has not increased at the same rate, mostly due to chronic diseases affecting the elderly. Age is the strongest risk factor for many chronic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, and dementia—all of which may require extensive health care and long-term care services.
How do we attain disease-free longevity?
Our overall mission is to conduct research that will help attain this goal.
We are issuing a call for research that can contribute to the adaptation of the health care system and consideration of new approaches that serve this goal. We seek high-quality scientific research to address critical gaps in knowledge that will advance our understanding in areas such as prevention of geriatric syndromes, chronic conditions and diseases related to aging and new geriatric models and interventions of care that provide goal-directed, person-centered care.
The Centers will provide up to 2 research grants of $10,000, with $5,000 for each side.
Eligible to apply: Tel Aviv University faculty members in collaboration with Sheba Medical Center investigators. The grants are open to all Tel Aviv University faculty members. Each member can only be part of ONE grant, whether as PI or collaborator. Collaborators may be from non-TAU institutions but are not eligible to receive funding.
The budget will be maintained by the Research Authorities at TAU and the SMC. All grants that pass eligibility rules will be reviewed competitively by an ad hoc review committee.
