Our ancient DNA laboratory uses ancient genomes to decode our past, using state-of-the-art methodologies.
The laboratory also provides services to researchers from outside the SFAI.
Our research aims include:
- Investigating the genetic makeup of prehistoric and proto-historic populations
Unraveling population migrations and routes of dispersal
Decoding kinship relationships, population structure, and demography
Studying the genomes of the last hunter gatherers and the first farmers in the Levant
Using ancient DNA recovered from archaeological sediments to reconstruct population histories and past environments
- Developing laboratory and analytical methods suited to the recovery of ancient DNA from warm climates
- Ancient DNA consultation
