The anthropological exhibition at the Dan David Center is focused on what makes us human. More than 98% of the genetic material of modern humans is identical to the genetic material of chimpanzees. Human evolution and the split between human ancestors and apes involved three main physiological characteristics: becoming upright and walking on two legs (bipedal), having our hands free for a variety of tasks and developing a large brain, which facilitated the human, intellectual, social, cultural and technological development familiar to us today. The exhibition describes the major millstones that took place over the 3 million years of human evolution. ​
