Meet Karni Lev Bar-Or
2025 Sieratzki Scholarship Awardee
Karni Lev Bar-Or is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, conducting her research under the supervision of Prof. Inna Slutsky. She holds a BSc in Chemistry and Biology, and an MSc in Neuroscience studying the interplay between homeostasis and memory.
Her research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of positive and negative emotional memories.
The study will aim to elucidate the distinct roles of excitatory and inhibitory neurons at the cellular level and to investigate the involvement of mitochondrial calcium in stabilization of emotional memories at the molecular level.
