Call for MSc, MPH, PhD and Postdoctoral Legacy Scholarships 2026

In honor of the late Prof. Nir Giladi, Director of the Aufzien Family Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease (APPD), we are announcing scholarships for exceptional MSc, MPH, PhD, and Postdoctoral candidates.

 

This scholarship initiative not only reflects our commitment to advance research into the mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Parkinson’s Disease, but also serves as a tribute to the legacy of a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the fight against Parkinson’s Disease.

 

This 50% level scholarship will be awarded to outstanding students and post-docs undertaking research in fields related to the mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Parkinson’s Disease.

 

Awards to begin October 2026

 

Eligibility

  • The student or post-doc must dedicate maximum time and energy to their studies and research of Parkinson's Disease
  • Grades from BSc, MSc, MPH, or PhD: minimum GPA of 85 and a thesis grade of ≥90
  • Recommendation by the MSc, MPH, PhD, or Post-doc advisor required
  • Commitment of the Advisor to assist in funding, up to 150% scholarship
  • Full-time Tel Aviv University student or post-doc
  • Only one applicant from each lab will be considered

 

Application Process

Students/post-docs who meet the criteria above are requested to submit an application [1] in PDF form, and signed by their Advisor. The request should include the Advisor's approval for his/her commitment to funding as stated above.

Rules and Regulations

  • Scholarships will be given according to the significance of the project proposed regarding the published aims of the APPD.
  • Scholarships are awarded for the period October 1, 2026 - September 30, 2027.
  • The student/post-doc will be named an "Aufzien Family Fellow" on all publications, with acknowledgement to the "Aufzien Family Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease" in all advertisements, publications, publicity notices, or public comments (where permitted) resulting from or related to the project.
  • The funded student/post-doc will attend APPD lectures and conferences and will present research when requested.
  • Recipients will provide an annual research report.
  • APPD Grant recipients of $50,000 or $100,000 grants beginning Oct 1, 2024, are not eligible for these scholarships. If both awarded, one will need to be declined.
  • The conditions for receiving scholarships are set annually in accordance with the policies of the Scholarship Committee and Tel Aviv University and do not constitute a precedent or basis for future scholarships.
