The Role of the Lipid Transporter ABCA7 as Potential Treatment in Parkinson’s Disease (PD)
Seed Grant 2022-2023 | Prof. Dan Frenkel
The central hypothesis of our proposal is that, ABCA7 elevation in glial cells might be responsible for their failure to support dopaminergic neurons and to the progression of PD pathology.
The results of our research will assess the role of Abca7 in glial cells in their neurotoxic profile in PD. Furthermore, our results will suggest the link between Abca7 levels to the development of CS in PD toward the creation of potential therapeutic avenues in PD mouse models that will be the follow up application.
