Dr. Ran Darshan
Ran Darshan is a theoretical neuroscientist at Tel Aviv University, affiliated with the Department of Neuroscience and Brain Disorders at the Gray School of Medical Sciences, the Sagol School of Neuroscience, and the School of Physics and Astronomy.
He received his B.Sc. in Physics and Biology from the Hebrew University, where he participated in the ‘Amirim’ and ‘Etgar’ honors programs, and earned his Ph.D. in theoretical and computational neuroscience at the Hebrew University, focusing on learning and neural network dynamics.
He later established his own theoretical group as a fellow researcher at the Janelia Research Campus, HHMI. His research integrates statistical physics, nonlinear dynamics, and machine learning to construct mathematical models of neural circuits and develop tools for analyzing complex neural data.
Spanning a wide range of neuroscience domains, his work explores learning, memory, motor preparation, and decision-making. His group works closely with experimentalists to uncover the mechanisms underlying these cognitive brain processes.
