Welcome from the School's Head
Our vision is to lead global biomedical research and innovation through inter-and trans-disciplinary collaboration
Welcome to the Gray School of Medical Sciences at the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University. It is my privilege to lead a school established to advance and implement original, leading, and internationally impactful biomedical research; to promote technological innovation; and to develop innovative research pathways that advance human health.
Our school is a vibrant home for outstanding scientists, educators, clinicians, students and postdoctoral fellows. We bring together exceptional expertise across six departments: Cancer Biology & Immunology, Neuroscience & Brain Disorders, Human Genetics & Computational Medicine, Anatomy & Biological Anthropology, Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, and Cell, Developmental & Regenerative Biology. Across these disciplines, we investigate the molecular basis of biological processes in cells and organisms, with a strong emphasis on clinical translation and real-world impact. Our multidisciplinary approach is reflected in the diversity of methods and technologies used across the school, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and a stimulating campus environment.
Vision & Mission
Our vision is clear: to lead global biomedical research and innovation through inter-and trans-disciplinary collaboration. Our mission is to drive cutting-edge discovery from basic science to the clinic, educate future leaders, and create impact via entrepreneurship. We believe this is the moment - and the responsibility - of biomedical science to move faster, think broader, and translate deeper. Tel Aviv University offers a unique ecosystem for this ambition, providing the ability to integrate basic, clinical, and entrepreneurial biosciences, along with close collaborations across 18 affiliated hospitals. This creates powerful opportunities for true bench-to-bedside-and-back translation and meaningful partnerships both locally and globally.
In parallel, we are strengthening the school’s innovation engine and societal reach. Through an Innovation Hub - including incubation and IP support in collaboration with Ramot - and dedicated entrepreneurship training, we aim to help discoveries travel the full path: from insight, to invention, to impact. We are also expanding academic and training paths that reflect the future of biomedical science and medicine, alongside new BSc directions built on interdisciplinary foundations. Through community programs, public health awareness initiatives, and science communication, we aim to amplify the impact of our work beyond the campus and into society.
I invite you - students, trainees, faculty, clinicians, collaborators, alumni, and partners - to join our community and help shape a brighter, healthier future for all.
Prof. Ronit Satchi-Fainaro,
