Neuroscience
Research work
We study the neuronal and molecular basis for severe epilepsy and autism. Tremendous advancements in genetic studies helped to identify the involvement of many genes in the etiology of these neurodevelopmental disorders.
Nevertheless, our understanding of the pathways leading from a genetic mutation to abnormal brain function is still in its infancy. We currently focus on three forms of developmental epileptic encephalopathy: Dravet Syndrome, GRIN2D related epileptic encephalopathy, and CHD2 related epileptic encephalopathy.
